Doug Schneider of SoundStage! came to visit the Paradigm & Anthem room at TAVES and after taking a good look & listen, was baffled by one of our Limited Edition 30th Anniversary speakers, the Tribute. Here's the first line of his show write-up:
"I'll cut to the chase and tell you now that Paradigm's new Tribute loudspeaker is the company's best looking and, from what we could tell at TAVES 2012, best sounding loudspeaker to date."
"Ever wanted $25,000 loudspeakers for a quarter of the price?" |
Doug went on to say... "I think some might think it to be nothing more than one of their Signature S6s with a fancy new finish and some other cosmetic embellishments. From what I gleaned from their designers, however, that doesn't seem to be the case." ... and he's right!
You see, the Tribute (floorstanding) and little sister, Inspiration (bookshelf) are a species of their own, including latest-generation driver technology: carbon-anodized aluminum cones, Paradigm's patented corrugate surrounds, beryllium tweeters and to name a few other features: recessed drivers, polished chrome plinths/stands, curved cabinet design, a brand new beautiful real-wood veneer finish, and a whole pile of other special aesthetics that celebrate just how far we have come in 30 years.
"...What this translates to in the listening experience is better clarity than I've ever heard from a Paradigm speaker, particularly through the midrange, along with tighter, deeper bass... In fact, the Tribute sounded so full, open, and refined that it could easily put to shame many of the boutique-brand floorstanders that sell for three, four, or even five times its price, in turn making it one of the best-value high-end loudspeakers on the market today."
"...the entire speaker, including cabinet and drivers, is made in Canada" |
Most importantly to us and possibly to Doug as well, is that the Tribute and Inspiration are designed, engineered and manufactured from top to bottom at Paradigm headquarters, here in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. In fact, some of us here at Paradigm say that the 'inspiration' for this limited edition 30th anniversary project, is in fact a 'tribute' to the very first Paradigm speakers made back in the 80s: 2-channel, Made in Canada... (See what we did there?!)
According to Doug, the only shortcoming with the Tribute is that it is a limited-edition production run. Though we have yet to release the Tribute and likely won't for at least a month, Doug encourages readers to consider them (and fast), because once the boxes are sealed, we'll be moving on to the next innovative project.
